There has been a significant growth of interest in mindfulness worldwide in many scientific, performance, wellbeing and healthcare domains. However, there has been an equally significant growth in the providers training and qualifications, in format, cost and content of what is offered.
Many improvised mindfulness teachers promise improvement and generalise claims and findings of researched packages to their own bespoke mindfulness approach, often based on personal learning and practice but not necessarily on well evaluated and researched standards. As a result, end users and customers are often uncertain or unaware of which approach to mindfulness they are accessing, or they may come to the conclusion that mindfulness did not work for them or their organisation.
